Scriptures: The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments were originally written without error.[1] The Spirit moved the Scripture writers[2] to produce the inspired text[3] using the words that God intended in every topic addressed. [4] The Bible remains the final authority on all matters of faith and practice.[5]
God: There is one living and true God,[6] an infinite personal spirit,[7] Who is the Maker[8] and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth.[9] He is perfect in every aspect of His character[10] and worthy of all honor, confidence, and love.[11] In the unity of the Godhead there are three eternally distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.[12]
Christ: Jesus Christ of Nazareth is both God[13] and man.[14] He is the Creator of heaven and earth.[15] To His eternal divine person He added a complete human nature through the incarnation.[16] He was conceived in and born of the virgin Mary.[17] The Lord Jesus Christ was completely sinless and died as a substitutionary sacrifice to atone for the sins of men.[18] Jesus arose bodily from the tomb,[19] appeared to witnesses,[20] ascended into heaven,[21] and remains each believer’s High Priest and Advocate before God the Father.[22]
Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is eternally God,[23] a person[24] sharing in every divine attribute.[25] The Holy Spirit convicts unbelievers.[26] He regenerates,[27] sanctifies,[28] indwells,[29] fills,[30] and seals[31] all whom the Father chooses.[32] He produces spiritual fruit in every believer[33] and illuminates to them the spiritual significance of Scripture.[34] As the Church began, He specifically attested the apostolic ministry with signs and miracles which ceased with the death of the apostles and the completion of the Scriptural canon.[35] Speaking in tongues has never been a necessary sign of Spirit baptism or Spirit filling.[36] After the Church is removed, He will continue to regenerate all who trust in Christ as their Savior and Messiah.[37]
Creation: Only God is eternal.[38] He spoke all things (material and immaterial) into existence.[39] God created the universe and all it contains in six normal days, without evolutionary means.[40] He created spirit beings and humans as persons.[41] God created Adam and Eve in His image,[42] and they were originally sinless.[43] Prior to the fall, God established the institution of marriage as the union of a man and a woman.[44] They are obligated to begin their “one flesh” relationship by leaving their parents and are to maintain their holy and monogamous relationship until separated by death.[45] Any aberration from this Biblical model is sinful.[46] Men and women equally bear God’s image; however, gender-specific roles differ. The Bible teaches that these gender-specific roles exist within the family and the church.[47]
Sin: Sin is any lack of conformity to God’s standard and moral character.[48] Creation included mankind and the spirit beings, all of which were created in untested holiness.[49] Satan and the demons rebelled against God before Adam and Eve fell into sin.[50] All of humanity sinned in Adam, and because of his sin the curse was pronounced upon creation.[51] Every human is a sinner by nature and practice.[52] All who persist in their sin and unbelief will experience death and eternal condemnation from God.[53]
Salvation: A sinner cannot earn salvation in any way; for this reason, Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross fully atoned for mankind’s sin through His blood.[54] The sinner must believe the gospel message to be justified and reconciled to God.[55] The only hope for the sinner is regeneration by the Holy Spirit and the imputation of Christ’s righteousness.[56] God’s grace and mercy are secured through personal saving faith in the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ as the full payment for one’s sins.[57] The repentant sinner will evidence this belief through confession and perseverance in the faith.[58] Once regeneration is secured, the converted sinner cannot forfeit or lose his salvation.[59] Christ’s resurrection guarantees bodily resurrection and eternal life to all who believe.[60]
Sanctification: God’s call to holiness requires exclusive devotion to Him and separation from any activity, teaching or personal alliance that is contrary to His Word.[61] Believers must put off sinful practices and thinking,[62] renew their minds through the Scriptures[63] and put on Christlikeness through the power of the Spirit.[64]
Church: The universal Church is composed of believers, all of whom have been baptized into the body of Christ, beginning at Pentecost.[65] It is distinct from Israel.[66] A local church is an assembly of immersed believers who unite under the leadership of male pastors (elders, bishops) and the service of deacons for the purposes of worshipping God, edifying believers and evangelizing the world.[67] Its administration under Christ and His Word is self-governing and congregational.[68] Each believer has direct access to Christ and is personally responsible to discern and obey His will as revealed in the Scriptures.[69] The two ordinances of the local church are believers’ baptism by immersion, as a declaration of discipleship, and communion, as a memorial of Christ’s death.[70] A local church may cooperate with others of like faith and practice,[71] but it should not join with unbelievers, false teachers, or disobedient believers in carrying out its mission.[72] The church and state have separate, complementary roles under God, neither controlling the other.[73]
Future Events: At death the souls of unbelievers go to a place of conscious torment in hell, to await final judgment at the great white throne and their separation from God in eternal punishment in the lake of fire.[74] At death, the souls of believers continue their fellowship with the Lord in heaven, awaiting the resurrection of their bodies and reception of reward.[75] Christ may appear at any moment in the air to take away His Church.[76] Then will follow seven years of tribulation, after which Christ will return visibly and bodily to earth in order to establish His kingdom.[77] Christ’s thousand-year reign of righteousness and peace will ensure the fulfillment of God’s covenants with Israel.[78] Satan will be bound in the bottomless pit for one thousand years.[79] At its conclusion, Satan and his host will be cast forever into the lake of fire.[80] God will destroy the present heavens and earth in order to create new heavens and earth, where believers of all ages will worship and serve God forever.[81]
